- I've been traveling around the U.S. West and the world ever since I graduated from college and first hopped on a plane to San Francisco with one suitcase and just $100 in my pocket. If getting way off the beaten path and finding surreal and beautiful places is your thing, come join me on this blog.
I write travel books, online guides and mobile travel apps for publishers including Lonely Planet, Wilderness Press, Sutro Media, National Geographic, Matador Network, Fodor's Compass American Guides and Countryman Press. My travel writing and photography feature in newspapers and magazines around the world, as well as on popular travel and news websites such as Jetsetter and the Los Angeles Times. I've also worked for the National Park Service as a seasonal ranger in California's Sierra Nevada and in Utah.
